Health and Safety

CONSIDERATIONS?

1) Have you chosen your artist wisely?  This is fairly easy, you simply check out the work. Look at portfolios, compare different artists work. find what suits you. Dont listen to friends, find what and who YOU want.

2) The most important thing is to be sure that your work is being done under very strict and sterile conditions, that instruments have been auto-claved, work areas are clean, and that immediate instruments such as needles, ink caps etc. are new. Anything that the artist touches should have some type of barrier film around it, all intruments should be in dated sterile pouches.

DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK !! Anyone out there working in a tattoo studio should be educated in blood bourne pathogens, and they should have certificates to proove it. In order to be able to control the spread of diseases, you must first understand how the disease transmits. Ask questions, ask to see sterilizers, be sure you see your instruments being opened up. If anything seems wrong with any of this, then it probably is. And again, dont listen to your friends, check it out for yourself.

Last but certainly not least: Avoid any kind of kitchen table tattooing or piercing. If its not in a fully equipt studio, dont do it. You get what you pay for, and you cant put a dollar sign on you health.

        BEWARE

There are ALOT of shops out there that have un-experienced people at the helm.         Either lacking artistic ability, knowlege of how to properly put ink under the skin, or lack of knowlege as far as keeping there work clean and there customers safe,  Be carefull! Granted, the work usually does not cost as much, but you may have to pay alot more for a cover up or for medical bills down the road. Pay the extra money and seek out a place that does things properly. Just because a sterilizer is sitting there does not by any means insure that the place is clean!

GunslingersTattoo takes your health very seriously. We strive to keep your tattooing or body piercing experiance a pleasing one, as well as a safe one. Every nessisary step is taken to to provide a clean sterile work area. I welcome questions, and am more than willing to show anyone the steps that we take and the equipment that we use.

Just ask!

Our proceedures to assure you of a clean safe tattoo or body piercing experiance.

1) New, individually packed, autoclaved needles.

2) Ultrasonically cleaned, scrubed, sanitized, individually packed and autoclaved forcepts, tips and tubes.

3) All stations are completly washed then disenfected then treated with a germicide after every proceedure.

4) All items that are touched by the artist or that come into contact with and bodily fluids are barrier wraped or taped.

5) All used needles are cleaned and stored in a bio-hazard container until they are finally melted down and disposed of.

6) All instruments are cleaned and stored in a germicidal bath until they are prepared for further use. (see # 2)

7) Proceedure areas are cleaned daily.

8) Common areas are maintained as needed and cleaned weekly.

9) My 3 autoclaves are spore tested on a monthly basis.

10) I bring in a certified nurse to perform a complete inspection of all stations, shop operations and general cleanliness 2 times a month.

11) All employees are certified in blood bourne pathogens control.

I would challenge any other studio or doctors office for that matter to show a stricter regimen of bacteria control.
